Flyers travelling from Baltimore to selected destinations are in for a nice surprise, as AirTran Airways have announced an offer they cannot resist. The airliner would be offering frequent flyers with AirTran double mileage credit, provided they travel to selected cities.

With discount airline Southwest Airlines last week announcing its plans to acquire its rival AirTran, Baltimore-area publishers and television stations will likely see a decline in their advertising dollars.

The Southwest-AirTran deal has been seen with a positive note by another airport called Oakland. The aviation marketing manager of Oakland International, stated on Monday in Pittsburg that Oakland may enter the three main cities of Air-Tran and render its services by virtue of the deal, if that happens.

AirTran Airways has issued an apology to nine Muslims for their de- boarding  from a Washington-to-Orlando  flight. The incident occurred when two passengers on board reported overhearing some members of a group of Muslim passengers making what they interpreted as threatening remarks.
