Boston Scientific Corp. has launched new heart devices, Energen and Punctua. Boston Scientific announced on Friday that they have started selling these heart devices in Europe and other non-US markets. These newly launched devices are the smallest and thinnest devices for the treatment of heart attack.

So Boston Scientific has finally been given the all clear by the US Food and Drug Administration. The company yesterday announced that the agency has officially allowed it to resume the distribution of its defibrillators, after having failed to inform the federal regulators of all the changes that had been made in manufacturing of its best-selling product last month.

According to The Wall Street Journal, it has been seen that medical device maker Boston Scientific Corp. is being investigated by The Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission for the recall of their implantable heart defibrillators.

It has been made certain that Goldman Sachs has downgraded Boston Scientific which resulted in their shares plummeting down by almost 2.8 per cent and went down to about $6.60 in the premarket trading on Tuesday and it is a notable fact that the stock of the Boston Scientific had closed on Monday at about $6.80 which recorded a slump of about 12.6 per cent.

On Thursday, the U. S. Department of Justice accused Boston Scientific Corp.'s Guidant subsidiary with criminal violations in connection with allegedly failing to report safety problems with some of its defibrillators.

The department said that a formal guilty request is anticipated at a later date.

On Wednesday, Boston Scientific Corp. released its plans to indulge in some major restructuring moves, which would include axing of up-to 1,300 jobs, making changes to management roles throughout the business and promoting its Financial Chief.

In order to settle an investigation by the US Justice Department, the Boston Scientific Group has paid as much as $296 Million. The probe had been into the company's Guidant unit's handling of heart devices, and the settlement has, as reported by the company, led to losses in its third quarter.

With the aim of settling over a dozen patent-related lawsuits involving coronary stents and other heart devices, Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is to be paid $716 million by Boston Scientific Corp.
