Yesterday, an announcement by the Chairman of Dish Network, Charlie Ergen, broadened the smile of the majority of investors. Further, it has been reported that the stock was closed at a 5% higher position to $24.66 in a trading environment where Dish had lost around 111,000 video subscribers in the quarter, while the street has anticipated a loss of 80,000.

The second-largest U. S. satellite TV Company, Dish Network Corp. (DISH) is facing tough competition from a top notch U. S. satellite-TV provider, DirecTV.

In a Wednesday announcement, Dish TV said that its DISH network Remote Access app for iPad now enables the users to watch live streaming TV – as well as recorded television - from the satellite service directly on the Apple tablet, from any place.

In order to captivate more consumers, Epix, the movie channel, has reported of signing a deal with the Dish Network Corporation which will enable Epix to have the country wide distribution in the United States.

One of the world's largest and top ranked satellite service providers, Dish Network Corp., has posted 12% drop in earnings for the July-September period for the current year. Although the growth has seen a surge in the number of subscribers, revenue and earnings seem to have dropped.

A court order was recently won by TiVo Inc., which the judge predicts will lead to about $200 million in damages for TiVo, from sister companies Dish Network Corp. and EchoStar Corp.

Satellite-TV provider Dish Network Corp had something of a mixed luck during the fourth quarter - while the company reported a 24 percent increase in its profits and a 1 percent rise in sales, it also mentioned a loss of over 100,000 subscribers! However, Dish's sister concern, EchoStar Corp. reported a widened net loss largely because of write-downs and acquisition charges.
