Official figures shared by the studio have revealed that the fourth-quarter earnings of DreamWorksAnimation SKG managed to slip by 16% as the group did not release any new movies. The results have, however, managed to exceed the expectations pegged by analysts.

Beating all estimates in its third-quarter figures reported, DreamWorks Animation has posted profits which have been much better than expected by analysts and investors. The high sales of the "Monster vs. Aliens" DVD, the company's latest release, is being credited as the reason behind this surge in profits.

According to their deal, Walt Disney Co. will distribute Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks Studios films, in a deal that will provide the Oscar-winning director's outfit with much needed cash, while reaping long-term revenues for Disney.

Spielberg's longtime producing and distribution partner, Universal Studios has broken-off 'several weeks' of talks on a distribution deal, after DreamWorks SKG, the privately held movie studio controlled by Steven Spielberg, 'demanded material changes to previously agreed upon terms'.
