EasyJet, the second largest low-cost airline by passenger’s number, reported that the loss of the airline has been doubled in the first-half as they struggled to contain the impact of higher-oil prices. The earnings of the EasyJet hit with the 40% rise in the prices of fuel in the first six months of 2011.

Inspired by the thirty eight percent stake controlled by the Haji-Ioannou family, easyJet shareholders narrowly voted down the firm’s remuneration report at the annual meeting that took place in Luton.

The low cost airline company RyanAir Holdings Plc reportedly increased passenger numbers by 11% to 72.7 million while EasyJet Plc boosted the number by 7.9% to 49.7 million last year, extending its lead over its UK rival British Airways plc in the European short-haul market.

Stelios, the founder of low cost airlines, who is presently facing an unfriendly court case against easyJet, said that a vote will be called for deciding level of dissatisfaction, regarding the spending at the airlines and the compensations.

The Founder of Easyjet has given evidence in the High Court against the airline. Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has accused the airline of breaking the brand rights and misusing the name Easy. He also said that the management has been taking poor decisions.

It has been reported that EasyJet is working with Plane Manufacture Airbus, a unit of European Aeronautic Defense & Space Co. to test radar that would help pilots to avoid volcanic ash clouds.

The test would check the technology on A340 aircraft, and if found positive EasyJet would roll out the radar on 12 EasyJet planes by the end of the year.

It was seen that resignation of Sir Stelios as a non Executive Director raised the internal chaos at the company. It was now being planned by the tycoon to build support for a shareholder revolt against easyJet which had plans to increase its fleet by 7.5pc a year.

Budget airline Easyjet said that it would launch a six-times-a-week service between the Isle of Man and Liverpool, starting May 21 this year.

Airbus 319 aircraft, with capacity of 156 seats, will operate the new service between Liverpool John Lennon airport and the Isle of Man.

British budget airline easyJet reported on Tuesday a fall of 64.5 per cent in full-year profit, blaming soaring jet fuel costs for the same.

The low-cost carrier said that pre-tax profit plunged 64.5 per cent from last year to 43.7 million pounds in the 12-month period ended September 30.

The Luton-based carrier, EasyJet said that it is continuing to perform relatively well in tough trading conditions.

As per EasyJet, the company witnessed roughly 3 percent increase in passengers, taking the revenue up 10.9 percent per seat to £51.41.
