According to recent survey, released by research firm IDC and app platform Appcelerator on Tuesday, most of the mobile software developers are likely to come up with more apps for diverse platforms with increased complexity.

According to a list of predictions for 2010 published by IDC analysts, mobile 'applications' will rule the roost in the forthcoming year, which will be a "watershed year in the ascension of mobile devices as strategic platforms for commercial and enterprise developers."

The worldwide market for computer servers plunged in the second quarter of 2009, with sales falling 30.1 per cent as compared with the same period last year.

Statistics compiled by the Technology research firm IDC revealed that revenue from server sales plunged to $9.8 billion, the lowest quarterly sales since 1996.

IDC has reported that online advertising contracted 5% worldwide in the second quarter, while United States witnessed a drop of 7% in online ad spending during the same period.

According to IDC, spending on Internet ads was recorded at $13.9 billion, down from $14.7 billion in the same quarter a year ago.

As per market tracker IDC survey released Thursday, the 2009 first quarter revenues for the server makers witnessed a sharp plunge, largely because of a steep fall in server shipments globally.
