With the pursuit of providing personalized treatment to patients, the doctors have planned up to unlock the genetic code of thousands of people. The initial steps of the plan will be taken by the doctors of Mayo Clinic, located in the US.

Mayo Clinic has signed an agreement with UnitedHealthcare, according to which it will be possible for the health insurer's commercial-plan customers to avail the services of Mayo's physicians, clinics, and hospitals.

The customers will be able to access Mayo Clinic physicians and hospitals from Nov. 1, 2010.

After Mayo Clinic announced that it would stop accepting Medicare patients at its facility in Glendale, Arizona, the institution became the target of some very blunt and bitter criticism. But the clinic, it seems, is currently getting down to some serious damage control, in order to take some heat off the issue.

President Barack Obama had recently praised Mayo Clinic for being a national model for substantial and efficient health care, but the facility has now announced that it will stop accepting some Medicare patients, starting tomorrow, at one of its key facilities in Arizona, on the grounds that the US Government is paying too little.

The Mayo Clinic and Microsoft Corp. have teamed up to offer a free, secure, online website that will allow people to store personal health and medical information.
