Opel's Vauxhaull Insignia has been running significantly in the market since its launch, due to its features like polished engines, magnificent design and a wide range in options and models, all compiled in medium size.

A deal to sell a majority stake in Adam Opel GmbH to a group led by Magna International Inc., may be signed by General Motors Co. this week. 

Britain has written a letter to European competition chief Neelie Kroes, questioning the viability of Magna International's plan to purchase the European arm of General Motors, Opel.

In the letter, Britain's business secretary Lord Mandelson said that the Canadian company’s restructuring plan would be open to political intervention.

Today, the German government was informed about a decision taken by General Motors Co. on the future of its Adam Opel GmbH unit.

According to a Friday report in The Wall Street Journal, the Belgian investment firm RHJ International SA intends sweetening its bid for General Motors' (GM) European unit Opel, in an attempt to oust its Canadian rival Magna International Inc.

Brussels-based RHJ International said it has entered advanced talks with General Motors over the issue of acquiring a majority stake in U. S. auto maker's European division called Opel.

RHJ said in a brief statement that discussions with GM "have been taking place over a number of weeks and are at an advanced stage."

According to the German newspaper Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (WAZ), the Economy Minister of the country has said that the decision pertaining to finalizing a bid for the German carmaker Opel still hangs in balance.

Carl-Peter Forster, General Motors Europe President informed that the talks for the sale of General Motors Corp.'s unit Adam Opel GmbH to Magna, Canadian auto-parts maker, are in progress and the deal is expected to strike soon.

Forster expects the deal to work by mid July. However, he didn't mention any details on the date.

Russian automaker GAZ on Tuesday officially confirmed its interest in forming a joint venture with German-based Opel and the Austrian-Canadian auto-parts supplier Magna International.
