Caroline Kennedy, who was thought to be the front-runner to take the U. S. Senate seat from New York, vacated by Hillary Clinton, reportedly quitted from the race for senate seat; she withdrew her name from consideration on Wednesday.

Even as New York Governor David Paterson appears to be in no hurry to make his pick to replace Senator Hillary Clinton, the voters are almost equally divided on the question whether or not Caroline Kennedy fits the bill.

The New York Times said Monday that Caroline Kennedy - who has asked New York Gov. David Paterson to appoint her to replace Hillary Clinton in the Senate, when Clinton joins the Obama administration as secretary of state - has declined to answer any questions about any potential ethical, legal and financial entanglements.

Caroline Kennedy has finally made it known that she is interested in pursuing the Senate seat of Sen. Hillary Clinton, who has been nominated Obama's Secretary of State. Clinton was not expected to resign as New York's junior senator until the Senate considers her confirmation as the nation's top diplomat, after Obama takes office on January 20.
