Amid all gloom pertaining to the financial crisis, it is being said that life expectancy of New Yorkers is rising. It has been reported by Mayor Michael Bloomberg that the life expectancy for 40-year-olds in New York has jumped to 82 from 2000 to 2009, while that of a newborn, it has gone up by three years in 2000 to 80.6 years in 2009.
