In a move to give a notable push to the retail sales of its forceful sci-fi sequel ‘Mass Effect 2’, the game’s developer BioWare recently announced that the game will be further shored up with the availability of ‘free’ downloadable content.
BioWare, the Canada-based developer of ‘Mass Effect 2,’ officially revealed that ‘The Cerberus Network’, an ambitious in-game platform, will enable the players to benefit from the ongoing downloadable content which will significantly increase the longevity of gameplay.
As per the BioWare announcement, the first lot of additional downloadable content will become available along with the game’s official launch for retail outlets – which is scheduled for January 26 and January 29 respectively in North America and Europe.
The additional content download, however, can be activated only via ‘The Cerberus Network,’ which reveals an unlock code that is packaged within the new copy of the game.
Noting that the additional downloadable content will be linked to the ‘non-transferable’ EA accounts of the players, BioWare’s co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka said: “The Cerberus Network augments and extends the rich universe of Mass Effect 2. We’re thrilled to be able to reward loyal BioWare and Mass Effect fans with ongoing, high quality content and provide a direct channel for our players to dive deeper into the intriguing lore of Mass Effect.”
