12 Mac Vulnerabilities in Flash and SSL Patched by Apple

On Tuesday, technology giant Apple patched as many as 12 vulnerabilities in Leopard and Snow Leopard, which include 7 bugs in Adobe Flash Player and 1 in SSL, the protocol used to secure online traffic.

Released as the security update 2010-001, this is the first bug-fix put forward by the company for the New Year and is much smaller as compared to the major November release which patched
60 bugs.

The seven patches that have been included for Adobe, Apple's first update to the popular tool since September, has managed to bring the program up-to version 10.0.42.34, which is the very latest Adobe version that was shipped on December 8, 2009 for Windows and Linux.

As far as the Mac OS goes, the new update fixes a problem in the system's CoreAudio, in addition to changes in other system level inclusions like ImageIO, CUPS and OpenSSL.

Apple users can download the security update for Leopard and Snow Leopard from the company's official sites, and additionally, can also be installed using Mac OS X's integrated update service.
