Reports are that Apple might be planning to launch CDMA and GSM version of its tablet for both 3G service providers, Verizon and AT&T.
AT&T is already providing its iPhone users free access to AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots, having more than 20,000 hotspots throughout the nation, on the same basis Verizon will also offer free access to its Wi-Fi hotspots and auto switching between Verizon's hotspots, which are around 15,000 in number and carrier's 3G networks when no Wi-Fi network is available.
Customers may have to shell out more money for the carrier specific tablet. According to a research, more than 70 percent of the people will be reluctant to buy the tablet if it costs anything more than $700. And the rumors are putting its price around $1000. Another drawback is the monthly plan, for which the customer has to pay.
The deal with companies is yet to be finalized. And the Apple press event is hardly six days away. Nelson of Verizon admitted that 10- or 11-inch tablet will surpass the Droid of Verizon.
Seigal of AT&T said that years ago, company had already planned about the mobile services and is in process of installation of new towers for trouble free 3G services.
