Asus has recently given a pictorial peek at its earlier-this-week-announced 9-inch Sipix touchscreen e-reader via a post to its Flickr account as well as through the ‘tweet’ route.
The recently-revealed pictures about the forthcoming Asus e-reader – which the Flickr images have labeled as “DR-950” - show that the device features a 1,024x768 resolution and 16 shades of grey.
Sans a physical keyboard, the Asus DR-950 e-reader boasts a virtual alternative, along with handwriting input. The black and white E-Ink display of the device will feature only three buttons on the front, and with a touch interface.
Going by the hints about the specifications of the device, it is equipped with Wi-Fi, HSDPA, USB, RSS, and text-to-speech features. To be available in 2GB or 4GB built-in memory options, the device will also include an SD slot to provide enough storage for the user’s TXT, PDF, ePub, MP3 and Audible files.
Furthermore, the built-in web browser of the DR-950 will work in portrait as well as landscape modes, with connectivity to come via 802.11g, HSPA and WiMAX.
Though Asus has not revealed any information about its content partners for the DR-950 or even its scheduled UK release, the fact that the pictures of the device have started making rounds is an indication that an official announcement would come sooner than later!
