A recent research, carried out mainly to analyze the hearing loss among adults and the elderly, has revealed that frequent exposure to rock music might not have had that big a negative effect on the Boomer generation as some have been speculating.

Researchers of the study have shared that older adults seem to have retained good hearing much longer as compared to the previous generations.

The study revealed that from the periods of 1902 to 1962, for every increase of 5 years in the birth year, the odds of having or developing hearing impairment were lower by

15% in males and 5% in females. For the sake of study, 5,300 adults from the ages of 48 to 94 were analyzed, from 1993 to 2008.

"Significant changes in health and lifestyle throughout the 20th century" have been credited by researchers for the improvements.

Details of the study have been published in the American Journal of Epidemiology.
