St Mary to organize fitness fair on ‘Go Red for women day’

OSF Saint Mary Medical Center will be organizing a health and fitness fair for women on the 5th of February, to mark the 'Go Red for Women Day', which was designed by the American Heart Association to embrace and elevate the cause of women and heart disease.

The AHA aims at reducing coronary heart disease and stroke risk by 25%, in the near future.

The event will combine food, fun, fellowship and fashion with vital information on heart diseases. It will begin at 7 am in the Cardiac Rehab Center, located on the ground floor of the hospital. Dr. Bryan W. McGwier of Southern Cardiovascular Associates will be the keynote speaker. He will provide information on the dangers associated with the various heart ailments and the treatment of these problems.

Participants would be provided blood pressure, BMI, blood sugar and cholesterol checkups. Booths, offering information on heart health, healthy eating, walking, and fitness programs would also be placed in the event. The event is free and open for all.
