County Encourages Residents to Get Flu Shot

Yuma County Public Health District is encouraging the residents to get an H1N1 flu shot before leaving the state or country, this spring. Health care workers say that we need to be extra cautious while traveling, because airplanes and cruise ships can quickly circulate germs.

The Public Health District will offer the vaccines from Monday to Thursday, from 8 a. m. to 4:30 p. m., everyday. The vaccines would be available in room 256, the Nursing Division, at 2200 W. 28th St. in Yuma.

The H1N1 vaccines are available, free of cost. The seasonal flu shots would cost $25 for adults and $10 for children.

"Our goal continues to be engaging at-risk audiences who are not yet vaccinated, hesitant about vaccination, or unsure about where to get vaccinated," said Becky Brooks, Public Health District Director. "The number of confirmed cases of flu may be decreasing, however to protect yourself and your families I would still recommend to anyone that has not received the seasonal or H1N1 vaccine to do so", he added.

For more information regarding both kinds of flu, call the 2009-2010 Flu Season phone line with recorded information at (928) 373-1025.
