As reported by Engadget, the new iPhone OS has been released for iPad and it brought with it, some information about future iPhone OS-based hardware. Codenames of next generation iPhone and iPod touch models were found listed deep in the iPhone OS 3.2 SDK frameworks.
The iPhone OS 3.2 SDK comes with iPad Simulator which carries several hidden files. Codenames N72, N88 and N89 were found in those hidden files. According to Engadget, N89 is a codename for the next generation iPhone. Apple has released iPhone and iPod Touch firmware 3.1.3. The iPod Touch carries the codename N80.
Apple explained that three of the vulnerabilities could allow someone to run code remotely, if an iPhone or iPod Touch user opened malicious audio or image files, or accessed a malicious FTP server.
It could allow someone to have a physical access to one of the devices to bypass the pass code on a locked device and access the data.
