Lungs of Pigs Could Be Transplanted Into Humans

A huge medical breakthrough has been achieved after it was discovered that pig lungs could actually be transplanted into that of humans and this discovery will be well received as there is a current shortage of organ donors and this will take care of that problem.

This was witnessed after the scientists at the St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne were finally successful by keeping the lungs of pigs not only alive but also functioning properly with fresh human blood. This was done by removing the particular section of the pig DNA which is called the Gal gene. This was removed due to the fact that this particular gene actually renders the organs of pigs completely incompatible with the human blood.

After this discovery, the scientists identified that the blood went into the lungs without any amount of oxygen in it and came back with a dose of oxygen which is practically the way the lungs work. It was also reported that human DNA was also added so that it would control the cases of blood clotting and also the amount and intensity of rejection of the organ in human.
