This year witnesses two films based on Nicholas Sparks books hitting your local cinema. On Friday, fans can see Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum fall in love in "Dear John" and, come this March, Miley Cyrus will find love with Liam Hemsworth in "The Last Song." So, are Seyfried and Tatum facing a little competition?
"If 'The Last Song' was coming out the same weekend as 'Dear John,' we'd have to collaborate on some sort of sabotage mission," Seyfried joked.
John (Tatum) isn't much of a talker, probably on account to the reclusive, reserved nature of his possibly autistic father (Richard Jenkins), with whom John shares an arm's-length relationship.
He points that there's no reason for them to pose jitters since the films are opening weeks apart, with "The Last Song" not hitting theaters until March 31. "No, not any more competition than all the rest of his movies coming out," he revealed. "I think all his films are very, very separate from one another with one theme: love. We're not competing for the same weekend."
Dear John casting Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried, Richard Jenkins, Henry Thomas, grabs 2 1/2 stars. The script written by Jamie Linden is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks.
The 105 minutes duration movie is rated as PG-13, possessing some sensuality and violence.
