Macquarie Bank not to fire trader over semi-naked pictures

The Macquarie Bank has decided not to fire David Kiely who works as a trader in the bank after he was caught watching semi naked pictures of model Miranda Kerr on camera in the background of a news story.

"He will remain an employee of Macquarie," The bank said in a statement. "Macquarie and the employee apologise for any offence that may have been caused."

In the interview about Australia's interest rates on the 7 News channel, Macquarie's private wealth adviser, Martin Lakos, was being interviewed while the desk of David Kiely was on the background where he could be seen clicking revealing photos of the super model.

The video became a hit on the internet video sharing site, You Tube with hundreds of thousands views. Several pages on Facebook were created in support of the trader along with a "Save Dave" campaign which was launched by a website hereisthecity. com.

On facebook a group was created called "Macquarie -- Don't Fire David Kiely" which was joined by 2,450 members.

The super model Miranda Kerr had earlier pledged her support for Kiely and while speaking to a news paper she said "I am told there is a petition to save his job, and of course I would sign it."
