On Sunday, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner stressed that America is not in the danger of losing out on its triple-A bond rating, a comment which came after a warnings from Moody's Investors Services about the country's treasury-bond rating.
When asked whether it was true that the US was in a dangerous territory and might lose out on the top rating, Mr. Geithner said, "Absolutely not. That will never happen to this country".
On Wednesday, bond rating agency Moody's had sounded warnings that the triple-A rating of America's Treasury bonds is in the danger of slipping, unless the country cuts back its federal budget deficit or the economy returns to definite growth.
Mr. Geithner shared that when investors were concerned about the global financial meltdown, they looked for safety in U. S. Treasury securities and the U. S. dollar. "That is a very, very important sign of basic confidence in our capacity as a country to work together to fix these problems", he said.
The Secretary also stressed that the economy is now definitely growing and will be back on its feet firmly in no time.
