The Northern Territory Government has undergone deal with Amcon, in a view to expand its existing Darwin and Alice Springs fiber networks to extend data carriage services to the Territory’s agencies and schools.
The deal is reported to be around $20 million over five years, will witness Amcom set up a Darwin office in line with the contract as well as pursue additional business in the Territory.
Also, it is revealed that its estimated capital expenditure would be "in the order of $10 million" and that it expected to conclude the project by September.
Diamond Communications, a subsidiary of Ausdrill, has been appointed as lead contractor for the project to expand Amcom’s existing Darwin infrastructure.
Amcom CEO Clive Stein revealed in an ASX statement that the deal was a beachhead for the company which would empower it to acquire further organic opportunities in Darwin and Alice Springs.
“The additional fibre optic infrastructure to be installed in Darwin and Alice Springs will enable us to leverage other commercial opportunities and introduce new data products for business customers, who to date have had limited access to high-speed fibre services”, he added.
