With post-unveiling surveys pertaining to the Apple iPad clearly revealing that consumers’ response to the tablet device is somewhat ‘lukewarm,’ analysts opine that for Apple to ensure the success of the iPad, it should slash the price of the device – that too before its launch!
Though Apple might decide to launch the iPad with the already-announced prices, and drop them sometime after the sales commence; it is being perceived that a pre-launch price cut will likely give the iPad sales the much-needed initial momentum.
As per the analysts, in case Apple decides to cut the price of the iPad within a few days after its launch, it might just run the risk of upsetting the early adopters who would have purchased the device at a higher price. As such, if Apple gives due consideration to the early users, it probably cannot initiate a price-cut before at least one year post-launch.
Hence, since the iPad has not seemingly generated the kind of post-unveiling launch that Apple and the industry watchers had expected, it would be better if Apple decides to bring down the price of the device before releasing it.
A judicious $50-100 drop in the iPad’s price would not only send die-hard Apple buffs over the edge with iPad exhilaration; but might also entice fence-sitters to go in for the purchase of the device soon after its launch.
