Apple evidently censors “Android” in apps for the App Store

Noting that the mere mention of the word “Android” is reason enough for an Apple App Store-specific application to be rejected no matter what the technology, JR Raphael recently said in a PC World post that Apple apparently feels threatened no end by Google!

Suggesting that the app developers who want their apps to be approved by Apple should refrain from using the “Android” word, Raphael has drawn attention to Apple’s contentious rejection of the Google Voice and Google Latitude app.

Apple has reasoned that the rejection of the Google apps resulted from the fact that they closely competed with the iPhone’s inbuilt technology.

Meanwhile, Apple’s censor of “Android” is even more evident from the rejection of some striking apps. Developer Tim Novikoff, creator of the Flash of Genius app, has revealed that when he tried to submit his program to the App Store, Apple seemingly disapproved his mention of the program’s success in Google’s Android Developer Challenge.

Novikoff further said that the Apple app approval department sent him a notice which read thus: “During our review of your application, we found that your application contains inappropriate or irrelevant platform information in the Application Description and/or Release Notes sections. While your application has not been rejected, it would be appropriate to remove ‘Finalist in Google's Android Developer's Challenge!’ from the Application Description.”
