The U. N. refugee agency announces that its goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie is heading to Haiti to meet with earthquake victims. Jolie has earlier visited Iraq, Thailand, Pakistan and other countries with UNHCR.
Angelina is a goodwill ambassador the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and UNICEF, and was accompanied by Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, the son of Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa on her trip.
The celebrity, who has donated $1 million to the relief effort in the Caribbean nation, paid a trip to the Dario Contreras Hospital in the Dominican Republic, which is helping to treat many survivors.
The Hollywood star widely known for his socialistic outlook is reported to have interacted with hospitalized Haitian survivors in the neighboring Dominican Republic on Monday.
The hospital's spokesman, Dario Manon, revealed: "She spoke with several children and a Haitian woman who recognized her and requested help".
However, he disclosed no details of her planned itinerary for security reasons.
Meanwhile, Angelina and her partner Brad Pitt continue to thrash their split rumors and posed very cheerful as they attended the SuperBowl on Sunday (07.02.10) with their eight-year-old son Maddox.
