Hollywood couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has begun a legal action against Britain's News of the World tabloid over allegations that it published details about their relationship to end, their London lawyers said on Monday.
The story published on January 24 in the weekly newspaper reported that the couple planned to separate imminently and had agreed on how they would divide their assets and custody of their six children.
London-based lawyer Keith Schillings revealed that the newspaper had made ``false and intrusive allegations'' when it reported Jan. 24 that Pitt and Jolie had agreed to separate, to divide assets worth $320 million and had made arrangements regarding the custody of their six children.
"We have advised them to bring proceedings which they have now done", he added in a statement.
Sorrell Trope of Trope and Trope, identified by some media reports as the Los Angeles divorce lawyer on behalf of the couple, has affirmed to Schillings that the company had no involvement with Pitt and Jolie.
It is reported that the couple trashed rumors of domestic discord between them when they kissed and held hands at Sunday's Super Bowl. The lovebirds, who brought along their 8-year-old son Maddox, cheered on the Saints from their box seats.
