Panasonic unveils two new digital camcorders - HDC-HS700 and HDC-TM700
Panasonic

The HDC-HS700 and HDC-TM700 are the two new, 3MOS sensor technology-equipped, digital camcorders introduced by Panasonic on Tuesday. Featuring a 35mm wide-angle Leica lens and a manual ring to boost creative flexibility, both the newly-unveiled camcorders boast the capability of capturing action in FullHD 1080/60p resolution; and feature a 12x optical zoom lens.

While the HDC-HS700 can record to a 240GB hard disk drive as well as to an SD/SDHC/SDXC flash-memory card; the HDC-TM700 features 32GB of built-in flash memory and an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slot for increased storage space. Both the camcorders have a flip-out 3-inch LCD touchscreen, along with an eye-level electronic viewfinder, and earphone and microphone terminals.

With the 5.1-channel surround-sound microphones atop the camcorders are equipped with two noteworthy audio tricks – firstly, each microphone can “zoom” for capturing audio independently; and secondly, unwanted noise caused by breezy conditions is automatically removed from the audio tracks, thanks to the singular “Wind Noise Canceller” feature.

Both camcorders use H. 264 codec to record MPEG-4 video at a 28-megabits-per-second bit rate, at their highest video resolution and frame rate of 1920-by-1080; and can also shoot 1980-by-1080-resolution AVCHD video at lower bit rates of 17, 13, 9, and 5 mbps.

The 3MOS sensors of the new digital camcorders, the prices of which remain undisclosed, provide the devices the ability to produce stunning, lifelike colors, even in not-so-brightly-lit surroundings.
