Official announcements by Honda Motor Co. have revealed that the company would be recalling another nearly 378,000 vehicles from across the US in order to fix potentially faulty airbag systems that have been linked to at least one publicly known fatality and 11 other injuries in the country.
The expanded recall adds to over 826,000 automobiles to the number of Honda and Acura models that were initially covered by a range of recalls related to the airbag systems that started in the year 2008.
Honda has shared that some airbags in its older models end up deploying with too much pressure, and send metal fragments flying into the vehicle, which could be fatal.
The very first stage of the recall included fewer than 4,000 automobiles from across the US, and the number was later increased to include nearly 443,000 vehicles in July of the past year.
