Research Links Migraine to Increased Risk of Cardiac Arrest
Migraine

A latest research has speculated that people who suffer from migraine are at an increased risk of suffering a stroke, in addition to facing a higher risk of suffering from other problems such a high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol, all of which come together to hike the possibility of suffering a heart attack.

In light of the new findings, researchers at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, in the US, are now urging doctors treating patients for migraine to also be aware that they might need screening for heart related problems.

"Migraine has been viewed as a painful condition that affects quality of life, but not as a threat to people's overall health. Our study suggests that migraine is not an isolated disorder and that, when caring for people with migraine, we should also be attentive to detecting and treating their cardiovascular risk factors", said lead researcher Dr. Richard Lipton.

Findings of the study, which are based on an analysis of data collected from 6,102 people, have been published in the journal Neurology.
