Applegate Farms sausage recalled over the doubts of contamination

About 1,485 pounds of Applegate Farms-brand sausage were recalled by the U. S. Food Safety and Inspection Service, because of possible contamination.

The federal agency said that recall of the ready-to-eat sausage products was initiated by Schmalz European Provisions of Springfield, N. J., because of the doubts that they might contain foreign

plastic material.

Being recalled are 12-ounce packages of "Applegate Farms Certified Organic Fire Roasted Red Pepper Fully Cooked Chicken & Turkey Sausage." "Use by/freeze by" date of each packet is

Feb. 28, 2010.

The recalled products were distributed in California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon and Texas.
