A CHKD pediatrician has concluded that plump babies might look cute but it might put them at a risk of being obese teens. Reports say that overfeeding your baby could lead to obesity at later stages.

Reports stated that plump babies grow up to be obese teens and this might increase their risk of all kinds of health issues that include type-2 diabetes, and high cholesterol and blood pressure.

Over 100 overweight children were studied by Dr John Harrington. He said some of their excess and abnormal weight gain began when they were 3 months old.

"A lot of people have always been like, they'll grow out of it or they'll get better over time, and that's not the case. We are seeing it. Almost 50 per cent of kids are now either overweight or obese," he explained

Harrington however stated that all heavy babies might not become obese. But parents need to control portion sizes before their baby starts eating food that is solid.

On Thursday Harrington's study appeared in a peer-reviewed medical journal, Clinical Pediatrics.
