SAP Chairman not to Interfere With the German Business Software

SAP chairman Hasso Plattner announced that he will not meddle with the German business software maker's day-to-day operations despite initiating a bigger role in restructuring the company, he told a German magazine.

"The supervisory board has asked me to possibly increase my role in this phase of change", said Plattner, who co-founded the world's biggest business software maker in 1972.

SAP posted a unexpected management reshuffle on Sunday that discerned chief executive Leo Apotheker quit and the company return to a co-CEO structure.

In addition, Plattner also reported to the magazine Apotheker had not been fired.

Apotheker, who had been on the CEO chair for past seven months, was replaced by board members Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe. Also, it announced numerous other changes on Thursday.

SAP AG, which named co-Chief Executive Officers this week in a management shakeup, appointed executive board member Gerhard Oswald as chief operating officer, replacing Erwin Gunst, who is reported to quit on account of health reasons.

UBS said in a note that Schwarz's departure may have a negative impact on staff at Business Objects.

"Some investors may worry about the limited experience of the board and its workload", UBS analysts cited, prompting similar remarks from earlier in the week.
