The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday stated that H1N1 influenza has affected more than 57 million Americans and 11, 700 deaths have been reported.
On one hand figures state that H1N1 pandemic virus is on a prowl, on the other a decrease in transmission of the disease was also seen. According to CDC about 55 million Americans had caught the disease, about 246,000 were admitted to hospitals and about 11,100 deaths were reported by mid-December.
Reports state that a substantial number of Americans were either affected by the H1N1 virus or vaccinated against it. By now about 70 million people have been vaccinated. Other reports add that by mid January there were
257,000 admissions in hospitals due to H1N1 influenza.
The CDC stated that the influenza strains that were circulating are that of H1N1 and not the seasonal strains. Doctor visits to treat influenza-like illness were on a rise but overall it remained low.
