The two reputed associations - the Indiana State Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International are contributing to nursing excellence. Located in Indiana, ISNA was organized in 1903; it is the oldest association for registering nurses. It is affiliated with the American Nurses Association and the International Council of Nurses.

The organization aims at promoting quality nursing and health care through advocacy, education, information and leadership. ISNA also makes it possible for the nurses to serve on the Indiana State Board of Nursing and Indiana Department of Health committees and commissions.

STTI is located on the IUPUI campus which came into existence in 1922, aims at the professional development of nurses. The qualification required for owning a membership is a baccalaureate degree. Practicing nurses may get invited if they exhibit leadership in their profession.

Morin, the President of STTI, said, "My call is connecting through knowledge, and there are several aspects of that, one of which is creating a welcoming environment. As we become an intentionally global organization, we need to welcome all our members and all different perspectives. So that's a key focus, and I think it will move us forward very well".

An award program "The Salute to Nurses" honors southwest Missouri's registered nurses and nursing students, during Nurses Week.
