Microsoft has officially taken the wraps off the next version of its mobile operating system, the Windows Phone 7 Series, which seems to be a break away from applications and more inclined towards functions.
"It's all about the phone and how consumers react to the device. Phones looked like PCs, but a phone is not a PC, it's smaller, more personal", said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, while unveiling the new offering.
In order to make the interface of the new offering more personal, the technology giant is mainly counting on a list of "live tiles" that are customizable and can update automatically with information coming in from wither the phone or the Internet.
Customers looking to get their hands on mobile devices equipped with the latest OS will have to wait till the year's holiday season, as has been shared by Aaron Woodman, Director of the Mobile Communications Business for Microsoft's Consumer Experiences Product Management team.
