Clariant Deepens Job Cuts

It has been reported that the biggest printing - ink chemicals maker in the world, Clariant AG, is to increase the number of job cuts and they are also planning to move the factories in preparation for a year that is expected to be as difficult as it was the year before in2009.

The textile production and dyes units are to be moved to Asia while Spain is expected to accommodate the production go paper - chemical. There are also going to close down a facility in India and another factory in Brazil is expected to be closed partially. With all these closures and the shifting, the number of job cuts is expected to be 500 and the surprising fact is that there would be 400 job cuts in Switzerland alone.

With a very difficult year anticipated, Clariant is forced to cut the number of their employees to about 17,500 with the recession weighing down heavily. It was also reported that Clariant had registered a net loss of about 68 million Swiss francs in the fourth quarter which amounts to $63.3 million.
