After having two children together, reality star Nicole Richie and singer Joel Madden announced their engagement. Madden made it public by posting a message on the website Twitter on Monday and Richie made an appearance on television talk show "Late Show with David Letterman" where she confirmed her engagement.

Richie is the daughter of singer Lionel Richie and Madden is the front man for rock band Good Charlotte. Richie has been popular for starring opposite celebrity heiress Paris Hilton in reality show "The Simple Life" since 2003.

"We actually recently are engaged", said Richie.

The rocker said that the couple had been engaged for a while but they managed to keep it secret. The tweets were later removed, it seems he regretted, telling followers the next day, "Just woke up. I'm screwed".

They have been dating since 2006 and have two children; daughter Harlow of two, and son Sparrow of five months.
