Federal officials have confirmed that the Rhode Island-based Daniele International is now expanding its recall of salami products that might just be contaminated with salmonella.

On Tuesday, the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service shared that as much as 115,000 pounds of salami products manufactured by the Burrillville meat company were being included in the recall, mainly because of possible contamination with salmonella from crushed red pepper.

Only last month, Daniele had recalled over 1 million pounds of salami which was coated in black pepper.

The latest expanded recall includes various products which were distributed all across the country and have sell-by dates from February 03 to May 26, 2009.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact the firm's Hotline at (888) 345-4160.
