According to a recent study happiness might help prevent heart diseases.

For concluding this about 1700 people underwent a health check conducted by the US researchers for over 10 years. It was found that people who were most anxious and depressed had higher chances of developing the disease.

It could not be proved categorically prove that happiness actually could protect you but they said that people should try to enjoy themselves.

At the beginning of the study participants’emotions likes being hostile, enthusiasm, anxiousness to joy and contentment were measured.

They were rated on a five-point scale for positive emotions.

When the analysis ended about 145 developed heart disease which was about one in 10.

But for those who stayed happy the risk of developing heart diseases came down by 22 per cent.

Lead researcher Dr Karina Davidson said, "Essentially spending a few minutes each day truly relaxed and enjoying yourself is certainly good for your mental health and may improve your physical health as well."
