Most Dutch expect home values to drop

Amsterdam - Three quarters of Dutch nationals expect the value of their homes to drop in the coming months, according to the results of an internet survey released Monday.

Marketing and research company Booz & Company and MarketResponse Nederland BV and published on Monday, said 73 per cent of the survey's 1,067 respondents said they thought the current economic climate was "bad" or "very bad."

A total of 79 per cent expect the value of their investments and savings to drop in 2009. Sixty-two per cent, meanwhile, said the financial crisis was not affecting their daily expenditure, while 67 per cent felt it would not be necessary to cut household expenditure in the near future.

Only four out of 10 Dutch nationals said they expect the economy to remain in bad shape by the summer of 2009. (dpa)
