Reports have confirmed that a scheme to successfully provide the infrastructure needed for VoIP traffic in the North and West of Scotland has been completed.
The new Pathfinder North scheme has managed to link as many as 801 schools, libraries and other public buildings, which are otherwise in the isolated Scottish regions of the Highlands, Moray, Argyll and Northern Isles, to high speed broadband.
With the new development, the area has now been equipped with a level of broadband which is sufficient to play host to large-scale VoIP traffic.
95% of the homes in the region now have constant access to high-speed broadband, which allowed for huge amounts of VoIP traffic.
"The Pathfinder North scheme represents a major investment in rural locations, which depend so heavily on good communications", said Carolyn Wilson, Chairwoman of the Resources Committee.
