After having recently confirmed that Apple’s newly-unveiled iPad tablet device lacking Abode Flash support, CEO Steve Jobs is apparently on an Abode-bashing spree – insisting that the Flash technology is heading in the direction of becoming obsolete, and reportedly comparing it to old data ports, floppy drives, and even the compact discs!
Unleashing one of his many assaults against Flash software in an iPad-specific meeting with The Wall Street Journal’s executives, Jobs – as per a report on the Gawker gossip site – called Flash a “CPU hog” crammed with “security holes.” Sounding a futuristic death knell for Flash, Jobs reportedly said that Apple does not spend its energy on “old technology.”
On an earlier occasion too, in an attempt to garner support for the “Flash-less” iPad, Jobs said at a town hall meeting at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters that Flash is, more often than not, the main reason behind the maximum number of crashes of Mac systems.
Meanwhile, in response to Jobs’ blatant remarks against Flash, Kevin Lynch, Abode’s chief technology officer said in an earlier blog post that Abode remains committed to do all it can to avoid Flash’s security and reliability issues.
Lynch further added: “Regarding crashing, I can tell you that we don't ship Flash with any known crash bugs, and if there was such a widespread problem historically Flash could not have achieved its wide use today."
