Power-sharing arrangement of batteries of the cars will help the owners to earn money when the car is not in use and parked. If the cars have a big bank of batteries, someone will pay you for parking your car in the electrical grid, may be $5 to $10 a day.
A panel of experts at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in San Diego revealed about the power sharing arrangement, where people agreed to let out their cars' batteries, when they are not in use to the power company.
"The concept of moving power back and forth between a smarter grid and more capable electric cars, known as vehicle-to-grid or V2G, is a "perfect bridge technology" for two complementary energy frontiers", said Jasna Tomic, new-fuels project manager for Calstart, a nonprofit energy research center headquartered in California.
People doubted that the grid could draw down a car's battery, for a fee, and then the owner had to replenish the charge on his or her vehicle.
"We are not discharging or charging the vehicles. The regulation signal that we're sending out varies around zero - taking and then replacing, over and over again, small quantities of electricity. So over the course of a day, the batteries will have charged and discharged just the same amount", said Ken Huber of PJM.
