Chances Of Kidney Stone Increases Due To Obesity

Various studies have revealed that people take the risk of developing kidney stone at twice the speed by being obese. This terrible condition can reportedly be horribly painful and it might even require surgery if it gets too serious.

However, this study also counters the common assumption that the risk of getting stones in the kidney increases as the weight increases from the mildly obese to the morbidly obese. The risk actually depends on the Body Mass Index or the BMI. When the study was conducted, about 2.6 per cent of the healthy people had developed the illness and it was an interesting fact to note that the figure actually rose to 4.9 per cent when they considered obese people whose BMI score was more than 30.

Although the study proves the facts, the reasons are still not clear and the scientists guess that it is possibly the alteration in the hormones due to the weight gains and also the other factors in lifestyle in which the diet is a very important point. The patients are also advised to intake a lot of fluid so they can flush out the kidney stones but it can actually be quite painful.
