Walking Across Bridge, Three Girls Get Caught in a Train Mishap

Three pedestrian girls were killed by a southbound train in Melbourne early Saturday night while they were walking across a bridge in central Florida. The identity and ages of the victims have not yet been revealed by the police, as they have not contacted the families, but they are supposed to be young.

Police Lt. Marc Claycomb said, “The three girls and a boy were walking across the trestle when the train approached them from behind. The boy made it across the bridge first saw the train and tried to warn the girls, who were unable to get out of the way in time and they were struck by the train”.

After the incident, immediately the train stopped thereby blocking the intersecting lines from Line Street on the south to NASA Boulevard on the north. The victims are thought to be declared dead on the spot while according to Claycomb the fourth youth who was initially with the girls but managed to cross the bridge, suffered no injuries.

The accident is being investigated by authorities in Melbourne. Florida East Coast Railway owns the track along with 350 miles of track along the state's east coast.
