Fast food outlets might have to reveal the calories content of their food products on products’ packets as the Victorian Government is considering forcing fast-food outlets for doing so. This step would come following the growing problem of diabetes.

If the plan gets implemented then all fast food joints will have to mandatorily display calorie contents on food products.

There are predictions that by 2025 about that a quarter-of-a-million Victorians will have diabetes.

Reports state that there is one outlet that already displays the information voluntarily and others might soon be forced for doing so.

The Health Minister, Daniel Andrews, says nutritional information would enable consumers to make balanced choices.

He added, "What we're looking at is an important proposal that's worked in other parts of the world to give people more information about the food choices they make.”

As of now more than 200,000 Victorians have preventable type two diabetes.
