More than 30 years after the first test tube baby was born in 1978, it is now being proved by the scientists that very few medical differences exist in children born under the system assisted reproduction and those traditionally conceived.
Almost 3 million infants have been born as a result of this assisted reproduction technology but are more at a risk of birth defects, underweight, overweight as compared to normal babies. The result of this finding is expected to be presented on Sunday at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in San Diego.
Carmen Sapienza, a Geneticist at Temple University School of Medicine headed this new study and examined the effect of the environment on genes by evaluating "DNA methylation" chromosome modification. It was then found that the majority of test-tube are fit and normal.
