Lenovo launched many new models in its ThinkPad X-Series of ultraportables, out of which the ThinkPad X201 Tablet is the upgrade of company's ThinkPad X20 model.

The new model offers a 12.1-inch display with wide-angle viewing as an available configuration, as well as the new Intel Core i7 CPU. It has a LED based screen with two options to choose from. You can go for either a superbright outdoor LED screen or a multitouch LED screen. It comes with 3 USB ports, ports for VGA and an Express card slot.

The users may opt for a 5-in-1 media card reader with a modem a 3-in-1 card reader with a modem, or no modem at all according to the user's requirement. It has a provision of a 2-megapixel webcam and stereo speakers.

Lenovo will go with the tried-and-true Laptop-based convertible tablet designs and not manufacture a slate device due to the fear of getting negative feedback from customers.

"We of course build plastic mock-ups that we show (to customers)... we had a slate form factor. The feedback was that for (our) customers it will not work because of the need to have (a physical) keyboard", said Majapuro, who is a senior worldwide product marketing manager at Lenovo.
