Homeopathy Treatment not Effective, Should not be Funded: MPs

200 years old homeopathic treatments received a political blow when MPs from House of Commons Science and Technology Committee opined that homeopathic treatments are mere waste of money and should not be funded on the NHS.

However this opinion was criticized by the supporters of this medical system and the Society of Homeopaths as they said that committee is selective with evidence and is failing to hear vital testimony. The report was exposed by the high profile backer Prince Charles's Foundation for Integrated Health.

It was stated that there is no proof of the medicines from homeopathy to be that effective as it is probably "scientifically implausible and theoretically weak". MPs also recommended that wasting public money on such a treatment should not be supported and medicine regulators should not license the homeopathic products.

Committee said, "There has been enough testing of homeopathy and plenty of evidence showing it is not efficacious".

Opposing the committee's proposal, Medical Director Dr Michael Dixon said, "We should not abandon patients we cannot help with conventional medicine. If homeopathy is getting results, of course, we should continue to use it".
